We are Windsor chair makers trained at The Windsor Institute and taught by Mike Dunbar in Hampton, New Hampshire. My wife Caron and I make colonial Windsor chairs by hand, just the way they were made 275 years ago, keeping with tradition of the early crafter's of that time.
Caron paints all the chairs herself with two coats of Old Fashioned Milk Paint which is non-toxic when dried, biodegradable and lead free, making it safe for children, pets and the enviroment.
The chairs are then hand rubbed with boiled linseed oil and seals in the painted surface which will mellow in time to a beautiful patina. All chairs are painted with the Old Fashioned Milk Paint color(s) in your choice of ;
1-Pitch Black 2-Lexington Green 3-Salem Red
4-Soldier Blue 5-Mustard 6-Pumpkin
~ Ask about the availabilty of other colors not normally stocked ~
We construct all our chairs with up to four types of wood consisting of White Pine for the seat, Hickory or Hard Maple for the legs and stretchers, Red Oak for the arms and bows and spindles,when required. Other types of wood can be used if a customer request it.
All crest, arms and bows are steam bent and wedged together without the use of nails or screws for a perfect and tight fit for a lasting piece of furniture.
They are juried members of the Best Of Missouri Hands artisan's guild and were chosen as the Featured Artisan's in the June 2005 issue.

They are members of the Raintree Arts Council in Clarksville, Missouri and Caron is the Vice President of the Clarksville Museum.
Ralph and Caron have been chosen by the Early American Life magazine as one of the Top 200 Traditional American Craftsmen since 2004 and were chosen as one of three artisan's from the Top 200 in 2005 to receive the First Heritage Artisan Award that is given to an artisan when all judges agree that their work is of museum quality. An honor that they are very proud of to have been given.
